Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and graduation from a two-year community college program in a related area.
  • Must also possess a valid Occupational First Aid – Level 2 certificate.
  • Over 4 years and up to and including 6 years related experience.
  • Proven ability to repair and service equipment
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to perform tasks to a high standard
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Have efficient, safe work ethics
  • Knowledge of maintaining inventory and records
  • The ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships and exercise courtesy, tact and discretion

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance to ensure safety and full capabilities CNC equipment.
  • Sets up and operates the CNC lathe and associated tooling.
  • Produces and installs specialized equipment used in the department robotics and automation lab by: manufacturing and installing various types of sensor systems and mounting hardware for use with the conveyor systems for each of the robotic work cells; producing and assembling pneumatics mounting hardware for use in each of the robotics work cells.
  • Manufactures, produces and/or assembles assorted test bench systems for the department course development and for department related research projects.
  • Performs shop maintenance and repair of existing manufacturing and quality control equipment in preparation for courses.
  • Prepares, maintains, and operates material testing equipment, test specimens, manufacturing tools, fluids, hydraulics, heat transfer, and other assorted equipment for the department courses and/or research projects, as well as for collaborative work with other Okanagan College departments.
  • Prepares, operates and manages tool crib.
  • Keeps department members informed of equipment status, including maintaining records and preparing reports.
  • Maintains an inventory of laboratory supplies, components and equipment as required to meet department needs, and assists instructors in ordering equipment and components.
  • Maintains appropriate records for compliance with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System).
  • Responsible for maintaining laboratories and equipment in a neat, orderly and safe fashion, including maintaining security and safety of equipment and students during non-instructional lab sessions. Recommends to supervisor physical arrangements of equipment in lab.
  • Drive Students to field trips and field work and assists students with materials and parts during non-instructional lab sessions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
