About The Position

This is a full-time night position providing a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties for the department. The Technician-Unit Support administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team. The role helps maintain a clean and orderly patient environment and provides information, directions, and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors. Duties may also include scheduling patient tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out of the unit, and ordering, receiving, and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team. Continuous observation, including suicide prevention, may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or attainment of certification upon completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills.
