About The Position

This full-time night position provides a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties for the Adult Surgical Step-down Unit. The Technician-Unit Support administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team while maintaining a clean and orderly patient environment. The role also provides information, directions, and other assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors. Duties may include scheduling tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out of the unit, and ordering, receiving, and delivering equipment and supplies. The position may require continuous observation, including suicide prevention.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or attainment of certification at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of principles of infection control.
• Basic computer skills.
