About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you’ll perform environmental testing of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. In this hands-on position you’ll work directly with a small team operating and maintaining the environmental test equipment we use for development and acceptance testing of flight hardware.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments (torque wrenches, calipers, DMMs)
  • 1+ years of experience in a test lab, manufacturing, or aerospace environment
  • Basic familiarity with data acquisition systems and electronic test equipment
  • Ability to follow written test procedures and work instructions with attention to detail
  • Strong safety mindset with the ability to identify and report hazardous conditions
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and self-starting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Nice To Haves

  • A.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Instrumentation, or related STEM field
  • Exposure to one or more environmental test disciplines: thermal, thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, or acoustic
  • Experience testing aerospace or similarly high-traceability hardware (aerospace, medical, defense)
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation and control components including thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, strain gauges, pressure transducers, flow meters, and load cells
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical reports
  • Experience with FOD/ESD controls and clean room requirements
  • Experience with high pressure, hydraulic, or cryogenic system handling
  • Familiarity with 5S and lean principles
  • Availability for weekend shifts or overtime as required

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on thermal, vibration, shock, and vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810, SMC-S016, and MIL-STD-1540 under the direction of senior technicians or engineers
  • Work safely with test, flight, and safety-critical hardware, tools, and shop equipment
  • Support setup and operation of high energy systems (e.g., high pressure gas and electrical) under supervision
  • Operate and maintain environmental test equipment including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration systems, and instrumentation systems
  • Configure test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation per test plans and standards
  • Support generation of test reports, procedures, and work instructions under guidance from senior staff
  • Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab
  • Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments
  • Communicate issues, observations, and status updates clearly to team leads and engineers
  • Willing to work weekends and overtime as required by test operations
