About The Position

Blue Origin Operations is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Test and Launch Engineer for its Launch Operations team. The team operates and maintains ground support equipment and launch infrastructure, including testing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, cryogenic, and electrical equipment. The role supports New Glenn launch infrastructure and helps drive launch rate, reliability, and readiness for flight or ground test operations. The engineer performs pre-flight verification testing, post-launch inspections, post-flight ground-system data reviews, and maintenance to return the facility to a launch-ready state. The role translates engineering requirements into repeatable test and maintenance processes, develops work instructions and inspection plans, drafts and reviews maintenance work orders, maintains equipment configuration, supports root-cause investigations and corrective actions, and helps commission design changes that improve safety and reliability. Work must follow applicable quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001. The position requires technical breadth across disciplines such as cryogenics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, large-scale structures, electronics, transducers, PLCs, and software. The team aims to transform launch infrastructure to support dozens of New Glenn launches annually. Shifts listed are Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m., and Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m., with a focus on the latter three shifts. The example location is Space Coast, Florida, and relocation is available. Off-shift work, extended hours, and weekends may be required for mission milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, from an accredited university.
  • Experience supporting test teams as a fluids test engineer, console operator, or in an equivalent hands-on role; the posting indicates 3+ years for Level II Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of systems such as pressurized gas systems, cryogenics, fluid systems, hydraulics, instrumentation and controls, or structural components, depending on discipline.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and instrumentation related to fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems, such as hydraulics, pneumatics, or cryogenics.
  • Ability to read schematics and P&IDs.
  • At least 1 year of experience developing English work instructions or test procedures for upgrades, maintenance, and system-performance verification.
  • Strong commitment to safety and ability to execute or oversee multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to support off-shift work, extended hours, and weekends as required for mission milestones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with and interest in learning a broad range of fluids, including cryogenics, monopropellants, hydraulics, or high-pressure systems.
  • Experience testing and integrating fluid systems, including ground support systems, cryogenics, and propulsion hardware.
  • Experience developing and verifying installation and operation procedures for mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with automated test equipment, calibration, and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals for electrical, mechanical, and fluid design and verification, including test readiness and operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or related control and data acquisition software.
  • Experience with electrical equipment such as electronics, transducers, programmable logic controllers, and software systems.
  • Experience using AI to streamline workflows such as data review and test automation.
  • Background in hazardous operations, design for safety, and applying standards such as MIL-STD-810 and AS9100.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools, fabrication, and integration processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure launch facility components are properly maintained to support launch activities.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable test and maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation, work instructions, and inspection plans for routine and corrective ground-system maintenance.
  • Support root-cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform pre-flight verification testing, post-launch inspections, and post-flight ground-system data reviews.
  • Return the launch facility to a launch-ready state after flight or ground test operations.
  • Draft and review work orders for routine and corrective maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain configuration of the facility and equipment, and understand applicable system safety products.
  • Implement and commission engineering design changes that improve safety or reliability.
  • Identify and complete efficiency and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Basic and supplemental life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Short- and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) with company match of up to 5%.
