About The Position

As a Technician, Refrigeration/HVAC, you will ensure the optimal operation and maintenance of HVACR systems by performing inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance in compliance with industry regulations and company policies. This role involves troubleshooting equipment, managing refrigerant and parts inventory, and collaborating with stakeholders to support facility needs. You will apply technical expertise to develop and execute action plans, maintain safety standards, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, ensuring reliable environmental control and energy efficiency across Walmart facilities. The Facilities Services team plays a vital role in maintaining safe and efficient store operations by managing HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and building systems. Senior Technicians independently diagnose and resolve complex issues to ensure continuous service. The team prioritizes accountability, collaboration, and safety while delivering operational excellence. Members enhance their technical expertise through hands-on problem-solving and managing urgent challenges. Requirements

  • Proven expertise in HVAC repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including rooftop units and refrigeration systems.
  • Valid HVAC and EPA 608 Technician certifications demonstrating compliance with industry standards.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigerant management, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply HVACR policies, building codes, and safety guidelines effectively.
  • Experience managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and project scopes for HVACR equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with management, coworkers, and external partners.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, adaptability, and delivering high-quality service results.
  • Vocational or Technical Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) certification and 2 years experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls OR 4 years experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
  • Type I/Type II Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for Refrigerant handling.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program
  • Mechanical license in city and/or state where job is located

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including rooftop units and condenser coils.
  • Manage refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and order necessary HVACR supplies to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Compile and report budget information, conduct price comparisons, and develop scopes of work for HVACR projects.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA and OSHA guidelines, through inspections and proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with management, coworkers, and external service providers to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Provide expert guidance on HVACR best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.
