As a Technician Production Manager in Training, you’ll embark on a structured development program designed to prepare you for success as a Technician Production Manager. Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret, and maintain accurate data records for production processes.
  • Completion of CarMax-provided training across all production areas.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • May require walking or standing for an extended period of time.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with associates and customers across departments.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for operational tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience as a Manager or Automotive Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper staffing across technician positions to maintain smooth operations.
  • Manage vehicle flow through the reconditioning process.
  • Achieve production targets for mechanical work zones while maintaining CarMax quality standards.
  • Monitor technician billed hours per unit to meet company benchmarks.
  • Oversee mechanical inspection approvals and prioritize vehicles using CarMax internal systems.
  • Drive associate engagement through Associate Care and Communication (AC&C) tools such as round tables and one-on-ones, and lead performance management feedback sessions and development plans
  • Responsible for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program for your department and/or location, including but not limited to self-inspections, hazardous waste disposal, workplace safety, and PPE.
