About The Position

The Technician, Music Repair Shop repairs musical instruments promptly and proficiently so they are returned in good playing order. Technicians may specialize in one instrument type or work across multiple types; brass and woodwind specialization is preferred. The role primarily works on returned rental instruments and follows established repair-quality guidelines. The technician also maintains accurate production records and performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Apprenticeship or a diploma from an accredited repair school.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to use standard repair shop tooling and equipment.
• Two years of relevant work experience working on musical instruments daily.
• Skilled understanding of one or more of brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments, and the ability to repair them efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Goal oriented.
• Ability to produce quality repairs efficiently.
• Ability to take advice and supervision from the shop manager.
• Problem-solving and technical skills related to diagnosing and repairing instruments.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.

Nice To Haves

• Brass and woodwind specialization is preferred.
• Four years of relevant work experience working on musical instruments daily.
• Advanced understanding of one or more of brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments, and the ability to repair them efficiently and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Repair returned rental instruments efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Ensure each instrument is repaired according to established quality guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records for production reporting.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
