About The Position

The Music Repair Shop Specialist repairs musical instruments in a timely and proficient manner so they can be returned to customers in good playing order. The specialist may focus on one instrument type or work across multiple types, including brass, woodwind, orchestral, or percussion instruments. The role involves working on customer-owned and retail instruments ranging from student to professional level, providing repair estimates, and completing work within estimated cost and timeframes while maintaining excellent quality. Other duties may include assisting at repair clinics or school events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Apprenticeship or diploma from an accredited repair school.
• At least 6 years of experience working on musical instruments daily is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and repair at least one type of instrument: brass, woodwind, orchestral, or percussion.
• Provide estimates for instrument repairs.
• Work to a timetable and ensure repairs are completed within estimated cost and time.
• Repair customer-owned and retail instruments, from student-level to professional instruments.
• Perform work at an hourly rate in excess of the shop’s hourly rate and maintain excellent quality.
• Perform other assigned duties, such as assisting at repair clinics or school events.
