Technician Medical Surgical - NYP Medical Group Westchester - Days As a Medical Assistant, you will greet patients, visitors, and employees in a courteous manner, and explain the procedures to be performed, clearly and concisely. Maintain ongoing awareness of patient needs when performing procedures which require physical contact, i.e., gentle positioning of patient, providing blanket for warmth, and modesty, and reassure patient during procedure. Respond to inquiries politely and promptly. Refer matters outside scope of own duties to appropriate others as necessary, keeping patients and other informed as needed. Observe patients' conditions, reports abnormal conditions to staff nurse and records appropriate documentation in patient’s records. Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings. Draws blood from patients and/or performs finger sticks and obtains other specimens as requested by physician or registered nurse. Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Use technical skills regarding positioning, wound care, and dressings. Prepare, collect and arrange for disposition of specimens, transports patients. Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc. Notifies appropriate others to order depleted stock. Maintain a safe, sanitary and therapeutic environment for patient care; assist in the cleaning and maintenance of technical equipment used in patient care and utility room; report equipment requiring repairs to appropriate others. May answer telephones and issue appointments as needed. Performs other job-related duties as required. For cross-coverage, you will be expected to cover other practices as needed. This is a full-time day position requiring 40 hours per week, with a varied schedule from Monday to Friday between 8:00AM and 6:00 PM and with a potential Saturday and overtime as needed. The primary office location is 685 White Plains Road, Eastchester, NY 10709. The individual must demonstrate flexibility, as they may be expected to provide coverage not only for the current team at this location but also at other Westchester Medical Group locations when/if needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of authorizations.
