About The Position

Our physicians include faculty from the world-renowned medical school, Weill Cornell Medicine, and are part of a network of outpatient practices and doctor's offices located throughout Queens. A Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers and clinical staff in a fast-paced multispecialty practice while ensuring a positive patient experience and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • America Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of employment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program
  • Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA-CMA, AMT-RMA)
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in an outpatient setting
  • Bilingual Chinese preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.
  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries and direct concerns to the appropriate team members when necessary.
  • Observe and report patient conditions to clinical staff and document relevant information in the medical record.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, including height, weight, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Perform phlebotomy, and specimen collection as directed by Medical Providers
  • Assist with patient positioning, wound care, and dressing changes.
  • Prepare, collect, label, and arrange the transport of laboratory specimens.
  • Assist with patient transport and clinical workflow as needed.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in examination rooms and clinical areas; notify appropriate personnel when inventory requires replenishment.
  • Ensure examination rooms, equipment, and clinical areas are clean, safe, and compliant with infection control standards.
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of clinical equipment and report repair needs promptly.
  • Assist with obtaining medication prior authorizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and practice operations.
