About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Welder Repair Technician II in Odessa, TX. This role involves repairing and refurbishing electric and engine-driven welding equipment and generators. The technician will assemble equipment for rental, ensuring precision and reliability through testing and calibration. Responsibilities include maintaining a professional appearance of equipment through repainting and applying decals, identifying and updating parts, ordering parts as needed, inspecting returned equipment, and organizing parts in the shop. The role also involves preparing documentation for repairs, occasionally providing on-site service, communicating with branch personnel and customers, and supporting field operations. The technician will contribute to a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• 2-4 years of related technical experience.
• A Valid Driver License and good driving record

Nice To Haves

• Post secondary education equivalent to a one year Technical College or equivalent is an asset.
• A working knowledge of power generating and welding equipment is a plus.
• Thoroughness and care in technical tasks, paired with solid organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and thrive with trusted autonomy while staying connected to team goals.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and refurbishes all Electric and Engine Drives.
• Assembles electric, diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental.
• Contributes to a culture of safety by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
• Restores and maintains all Electric and Engine Drives to ensure peak performance.
• Collaborates to assemble electric, diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental, ensuring precision and reliability through testing and calibration.
• Repaints parts, touches up paint, and applies decals to welders to maintain a professional appearance.
• Identifies and updates parts while completing essential preventative maintenance.
• Coordinates parts ordering as required to ensure the team can complete repairs efficiently.
• Inspects returned equipment to ensure proper operation and identify any necessary care.
• Skilled in using a forklift, pallet jack, or other necessary equipment to organize required parts in the shop.
• Fosters a clean and organized work environment for the benefit of the whole team.
• Prepares and completes documentation for all machine repairs.
• Occasionally provides on-site service to support our equipment and customers.
• Nurtures open communication with all branch personnel.
• Occasionally fosters understanding with customers regarding the most effective equipment for their projects.
• Supports field operations as needed to reach our shared business goals.
• Performs other related duties as a collaborative team member.
• Use load bank
• Complete Setups (Stick, MIG, TIG)
• Identify & test electronic components
• Diagnose & repair equipment using service manuals
• Perform pre-power testing
• Install electronic components & final testing
