About The Position

Conduct NDT inspections of structures, pipelines or other components and materials using x-ray, ultrasound or related equipment. This role involves conducting non-destructive (NDT) testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures. The technician will utilize appropriate NDT methods to perform inspections, including gamma radiography, x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing and visual inspections. They will also select, prepare, load, calibrate, and operate equipment used in non-destructive testing, identify defects in materials using appropriate testing techniques, and complete documentation and work orders thoroughly following established protocols and meeting required timeframes. Additionally, the role requires driving Company vehicles, maintaining a safe driving record, and providing instruction to assigned assistants while ensuring the safety of the entire team. Other duties include performing general cleaning and minor maintenance on company vehicles, routinely inspecting equipment, and maintaining shop areas. The position also involves performing duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
  • Certification in one or more of the following NDT methods: RT, UT, MT, PT.
  • Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or experience.
  • Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning and application of skills.
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of, and willingness to follow and lead others to follow applicable safety regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Able to work long periods of time, up to 16-hour days.
  • Able to respond to call-outs on short notice and to stay on site, including long distance travel for extended periods of time.
  • Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on loose, rough or uneven terrain.
  • Able to occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Climbing and working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, working in confined spaces, working in extreme cold and heat, visual acuity, working near hazards including moving mechanical parts, working near electrical components and exposures to chemicals.
  • Applicants must meet weight restrictions to ensure their safety when utilizing safety harnesses.
  • Interact professionally with customers.
  • Punctual arrival to assignments.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and to provide instruction to others effectively and professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • PAUT experience is a plus.
  • TWIC card preferred.
