About The Position

This role involves the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all aspects of mechanical drilling equipment. The technician will be responsible for ensuring all rig mechanical equipment is installed and functioning correctly, commissioning new system installations, and training rig personnel on the operation and maintenance of various mechanical rig equipment. The position also requires creating spare parts inventory lists, documenting asset information for a master database, and working closely with rig personnel and clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Coordination with the office for new and additional equipment installations, and supervision of third-party welders and service technicians are also key responsibilities. The role may involve designing basic mechanical drives and providing detailed reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 - 7 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of drilling operations and drilling rig equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge to read drawings, schematics and parts breakdowns.
  • Computer troubleshooting and networking knowledge.
  • Good mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot all aspects of mechanical drilling equipment.
  • Ensure all rig Mechanical equipment is installed and functioning correctly.
  • Commission and function test new system installations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Mechanical rig equipment on existing rigs.
  • Train rig personnel on operation/maintenance on various mechanical rig equipment.
  • Create spare parts inventory list to support rig.
  • Document and record part serial numbers and asset numbers to be compiled in a master database for asset tracking for the project.
  • Work closely with rig personnel and clients to insure customer satisfaction with rig.
  • Coordinate with the office new installations and additional equipment installations to existing jobs.
  • Supervise team of 3rd party welders and service technicians from 3rd party electrical providers.
  • Design basic mechanical drives.
  • Provide detailed reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
