About The Position

Walmart is hiring a Supermarket Rack Refrigeration HVAC Technician to support repair and maintenance of refrigeration and HVAC equipment and assets at Walmart facilities. The role uses commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills, hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment. Technicians receive repair work orders through a work order management system, support stores and associates, document repair activities, and respond to emergency maintenance calls. The position requires completing safety training and following OSHA and EPA regulations and Walmart refrigeration HVAC safety and environmental guidelines. The work includes lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing ladders, and frequently working at heights. The position is based at a Walmart facility in Batavia, Illinois. Walmart provides a work vehicle and tools, training, and compensation packages based on candidate-specific factors. Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in commercial refrigeration HVAC maintenance and large-scale rack refrigeration experience, as stated in the position summary.
Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or a construction-related field involving commercial HVAC/R and building controls; or Option 2: 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or a construction-related field involving commercial HVAC/R and building controls or a related field.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, hold an HVAC-R/mechanical journeyman qualification.
Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license and be able to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last 5 years; no more than two moving violations in the last 3 years; no preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last 3 years; and no serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last 3 years.
Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent, as stated in the position summary.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, move up and down ladders, and work comfortably at heights frequently.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a 2-year vocational or technical HVAC/R program.
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Mechanical license in the city and/or state where the job is located.
Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair Walmart facility refrigeration and HVAC equipment and assets using commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills and appropriate tools and equipment.
Use the work order management system to receive repair work orders supporting stores and store associates, and document repair activities.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.
Inspect, operate, and test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
Complete required training to operate equipment and tools safely.
Perform work in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and the Walmart Refrigeration HVAC safety policy and environmental guidelines.
