Technician Broadband I - Glo Fiber
About The Position
Glo Fiber is hiring Broadband Technicians to install and service gigabit internet, digital video, and phone services for residential and business customers. New hires receive online classroom instruction and comprehensive hands-on field training with experienced industry professionals, including training in home broadband installations and WiFi networks. The company provides the necessary gear and support, including access to higher-level assistance. The role offers opportunities to build skills and advance into field operations leadership roles. This is a physical field position involving travel across service territories in a company vehicle, climbing, working at heights, and entering attic crawl spaces. Employees must follow company safety procedures and support an on-call rotation; periodic weekend work may be required.
Requirements
- Communicate tactfully and effectively face-to-face and remotely by phone with customers and company personnel.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrate basic PC or tablet skills using software applications such as email and web browsers.
- Be able to move over varied terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment.
- Be able to operate weight-bearing equipment such as gaffs, safety harnesses, and extension ladders, and carry equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience installing and servicing home or business video, internet, and phone services; training is provided for candidates without this experience.
Responsibilities
- Install and repair video, internet, and phone services for residential and business customers.
- Install and repair wiring, cabling, and hardware needed to support services, including fiber, coax, and Ethernet cabling.
- Program and configure digital set-top boxes, video appliances, and home WiFi services, and assist customers with configuring home equipment and electronics.
- Operate and maintain field tools and equipment, including climbing devices, ladders, hand and power tools, test equipment, laptops or tablets, and network meters.
- Observe company safety procedures at all times.
- Support the on-call rotation; periodic weekend work may be required.
