Part-Time Technician A - Manufacturing Systems Lab
About The Position
The College of Engineering is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Technician A - Manufacturing Systems Lab. This role provides support for laboratory classes and research projects, working closely with small groups to enhance their learning experience and ensure safe and effective use of laboratory resources. The position involves assisting with safety training and monitoring, as well as equipment training for faculty, students, and staff within the labs. Key duties include performing machinist tasks such as maintenance, setup, and operation of equipment like milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and saws; executing foundry work including operation of the green sand system, mold making, and induction furnaces; performing welder duties such as maintenance, setup, and operation of various welding procedures; and conducting various types of destructive and non-destructive material testing.
Requirements
- Program and operate various computer-controlled equipment, including robots, lathes, milling machines, and coordinate measuring instruments.
- Machining, welding, foundry experience.
- Proficiency in advanced shop mathematics, including the interpretation of complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
- Expertise with a wide range of adjustable measuring instruments and technical procedures.
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent education (high school diploma plus a two-year technical college degree).
- Three to four years of relevant industry experience.
- Must operate a motor vehicle as part of job duties.
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
