About The Position

The College of Engineering is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Technician A - Manufacturing Systems Lab. This role provides support for laboratory classes and research projects, working closely with small groups to enhance their learning experience and ensure safe and effective use of laboratory resources. The position also involves assisting with safety and equipment training for faculty, students, and staff within the labs.

Requirements

• Program and operate various computer-controlled equipment, including robots, lathes, milling machines, and coordinate measuring instruments.
• Machining, welding, foundry experience.
• Proficiency in advanced shop mathematics, including the interpretation of complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
• Expertise with a wide range of adjustable measuring instruments and technical procedures.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent education (high school diploma plus a two-year technical college degree).
• Three to four years of relevant industry experience.
• Operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for laboratory classes and research projects.
• Work closely with small groups to enhance their learning experience and ensure safe effective use of laboratory resources.
• Assist with safety training and safety monitoring within Labs.
• Assist with equipment training for faculty, students, and staff within Labs.
• Perform machinist duties: maintenance, set up, and operation of equipment such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and saws.
• Execute foundry work: operation of green sand system, mold making, and induction furnaces.
• Perform welders duties: maintenance, set up, and operation of various types of welding procedures.
• Perform various types of destructive and non-destructive material testing.
