About The Position

Carpenter Technology is seeking a Summer 2027 Technical Writing Intern for its Technical Skills Training business unit. The Technical Skills Department develops, distributes, and facilitates employee training programs, supports Quality through documentation and mill audits, and partners with Safety to train employees on company policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. The intern will help maintain the documentation needed for safe and efficient mill operations, working with a dynamic team and multiple departments in a manufacturing environment. The position is on-site in Reading, Pennsylvania. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders due to Carpenter’s government contracts.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Engineering.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Willing and able to work on-site at the Reading, Pennsylvania location.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder due to Carpenter’s government contracts.
• Self-motivated and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Create and edit safe standard work procedures (SSWPs).
• Create and edit standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Edit lockout documents.
• Upload created documents for approval.
• Transfer Lotus Notes documents into Word format and upload them to SharePoint.
• Support the creation and maintenance of safe-work, standard-work, and work-instruction documentation for mill operations.

• One-time $2,400 excessive commute allowance, less applicable taxes, for eligible interns commuting more than 50 miles one-way from outside the immediate Reading, Pennsylvania area.
• One-time $4,800 housing allowance, less applicable taxes, for eligible interns temporarily relocating more than 50 miles one-way from outside the immediate Reading, Pennsylvania area.
