We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to develop, maintain, and improve engineering documentation for software and control systems applications. This role will work closely with software engineers, controls engineers, product, and project managers to create clear, accurate, and maintainable technical documentation that supports development, cross team collaboration, and customer delivery. The ideal candidate combines strong technical writing skills with the ability to understand complex engineering concepts and translate them into well-structured documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Experience documenting products and software systems.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: industrial control systems, manufacturing systems, web services, embedded control.
  • Understanding of the key software engineering documentation identified above and their role in an engineering organization.
  • Proficient with the following tools: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft SharePoint, Confluence, Jira.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain software engineering documentation, including: Software architecture documents, System design specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Deployment and installation guides, Configuration and administration manuals.
  • Interview engineering teams to gather technical information and requirements.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and project meetings.
  • Work directly with subject matter experts to validate technical content.
  • Establish and maintain documentation templates, standards, and style guides in formats that allow for direct collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Implement version control practices suitable for engineering documentation.
