About The Position

Datum Technologies Group Government Solutions is currently hiring Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as members of the Air Force Technical Order Field Support Team (AFTOFST). This role involves providing comprehensive technical documentation support for Air Force technical orders (TOs), including writing, updating, and publishing various types of manuals and orders. The position requires adherence to strict military specifications and standards, as well as proficiency in specialized authoring and publishing software. While the role is primarily teleworking, occasional onsite presence may be required near Eglin AFB (Florida) or Wright-Patterson AFB (Ohio).

Requirements

  • Experience in Methods and Procedures TOs, Weapons Delivery Standard Volume Flight Manuals, Weapons Loading Standard Volume Technical Orders, Munitions Handling Equipment Technical Orders for Ammunition and Weapons Equipment style manuals, MIL-DTL-87929 - Appendix A & I, MIL-DTL-38384 - Appendix B, and MIL-DTL-9977 - Appendix A, including other applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and military specifications.
  • Knowledge of Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCR) and related military specifications.
  • Proficiency in USAF Technical Order Authoring and Publishing (TOAP).
  • Proficiency in American English, and a working knowledge of general style and grammar for technical documents.
  • Ability to edit technical content in accordance with a complex set of specific instructions and standardized best practices for multiple document formats.
  • Active U.S. citizenship.
  • Current SECRET Clearance.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Order (TO) editorial support.
  • Write weapons and munitions technical manuals and Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) in compliance with Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCR) and military specifications.
  • Update published TOs, managing government approved source data, supporting the creation of output files, and update or create artwork.
  • Update, convert, and create new illustrations.
  • Draw sketches to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence.
  • Perform edits, standardizations, changes, and revisions of material prepared by other writers and illustrators.
  • Author and publish TOs utilizing Technical Order Authoring and Publishing (TOAP).
  • Develop, edit, compose, illustrate, convert, perform quality assurance, and publish Air Force TOs, Country Standard TOs (CSTO) and Flight Manuals (FMs) in accordance with DoD and Air Force TMSS.
  • Update or create artwork from sketches, photographs, engineering drawings and/or halftone graphics.
