About The Position

This internship focuses on Documentation Development, where you will create and maintain technical documentation for customer-built software applications. Responsibilities include developing user guides, administrator guides, installation instructions, release notes, and knowledge base articles. You will also document business workflows, system processes, and application functionality, creating process flows, diagrams, screenshots, and other supporting materials. Standardization of documentation using approved templates and style guides is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, Communications).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand and document technical information.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools and processes is a plus.
  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in technical writing or a related field.
  • Experience with specific documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Confluence, Jira).
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for customer-built software applications.

  • Standardize documentation using approved templates and style guides.
  • Interview developers, analysts, testers, and business users to gather information.
  • Attend project meetings and software demonstrations to understand application functionality.
  • Work with development teams to document new features and enhancements.
  • Review documentation with stakeholders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Update documentation as software changes are implemented.
  • Ensure documentation remains current, searchable, and easy to understand.
  • Organize content within document repositories, wikis, and knowledge management systems.
  • Track version history and document revisions.
  • Proofread and edit content for clarity, grammar, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Verify technical information through testing or validation with subject matter experts.
  • Ensure documentation follows company standards and best practices.
