About The Position

The Technical Writer II provides comprehensive writing support for the task order for US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM); Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center; Engineering and Systems Integration (ESI) Directorate. This role involves collecting and organizing information for various documents, editing functional descriptions and specifications, conducting technical editing, and assisting in the preparation of project plans, reports, and manuals. The position also facilitates document submission through government processes, maintains document libraries, and creates professional graphics to enhance document quality.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience and/or AS/AA or 2yr Tech School; or HS/GED w/ 10 years or military experience E4 and up
  • Direct experience of applicable military standards, specifications, and test practices is required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit, and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures, and results.
  • Direct experience in writing, editing, and managing technical documentation and operator/maintenance manuals for military systems and equipment.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products and Adobe.
  • TS/SCI Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and organizing information for the preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
  • Editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other customer deliverables.
  • Conducting technical editing, technical editor review, and development of deliverables, briefings, reports, and other documents, including classified materials.
  • Assisting in the professional preparation of project plans, schedules, demonstrations, requirements, test plans, technical manuals, training curricula, briefings, and reports.
  • Facilitating the submission of documents through Government processes to gain release permission.
  • Editing briefings and memos.
  • Editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintaining and updating existing templates and creating new templates.
  • Posting approved reports to portals for information sharing.
  • Maintaining a library of approved documents, including release approval documentation.
  • Maintaining product metrics.
  • Maintaining a product status tracker.
  • Coordinating with authors to tag products/reports with appropriate tags, keywords, and/or metadata.
  • Creating professional graphics to enhance the quality of briefings, reports, presentations, and signage.
  • Preparing briefings, papers, memos, or documents based on existing content.
  • Editing products for formatting and compliance with applicable C5ISR, DEVCOM, AFC, and DoW formats and standards.
  • Implementing methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of product development.
