The Technical Workday Architect serves as a bridge between HR business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, owning end-to-end solution design across Workday Integrations. This role combines deep functional knowledge with hands on technical capability to design scalable, compliant, and efficient enterprise solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Workday experience in HCM integrations (Studio, EIB, APIs) preferred
  • Experience supporting or leading full lifecycle Workday implementations or major tenant refreshes
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments
  • Strong understanding of data governance and security best practices

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration solution design across Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Recruiting, Talent, and Payroll modules.
  • Partner with HR teams to translate business requirements into scalable Workday integrations.
  • Conduct impact assessments for releases, enhancements, and regulatory changes.
  • Own governance frameworks for access, role rationalization, and audit readiness.
  • Follow SDLC framework for enhancements and projects.
  • Design, develop, and support inbound/outbound integrations using: Workday Studio, EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), Core Connectors, Workday Web Services (REST/SOAP APIs), BIRT reporting, XML, XSLT transformations.
  • Lead integration lifecycle management: requirements → mapping → build → test → deploy → post-production support.
  • Troubleshoot integration failures and optimize performance.
  • Oversee vendor integrations (e.g., payroll providers, benefits vendors, ServiceNow, background check vendors).
  • Implement secure authentication protocols (SFTP, OAuth, certificates, API security).
  • Lead cross-functional workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Translate BRDs into user stories and technical design documentation.
  • Provide executive-level updates on roadmap, risk, and integration stability.
  • Mentor junior analysts / integration developers.
  • Drive release management strategy and regression testing coordination.
  • Maintain detailed documentation related to project work, HR Systems internal documentation & frameworks, and process guides.
