Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles and techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of various techniques for training both technical and non-technical subjects
  • Ability to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in business, science, food technology, education and development, or human resources preferred OR equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience as a Job Trainer or Learning Mentor

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates department training and documentation to ensure employees are properly trained and that all job-related materials are accurate, current, and aligned with work practices.
  • Plans, organizes, delivers, and oversees required training programs such as annual compliance training, on-the-job technical training, and new employee orientation.
  • Ensures consistency across work orders, procedures, job aids, plant control procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documents.
  • Coordinates safety, GMP, technical, and procedural training, as well as training for new equipment, business conditions, regulatory reform, or updated processes/procedures.
  • Ensures consistency of technical training.
  • Develops, updates, and tracks on-the-job technical training for all new department personnel or those assuming new positions within the department.
  • Ensures consistency between the methods described in Work Orders, Job Procedures, Sturgis Plant Control Procedures, and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Monitors and tracks the department training activities of the area supported.
  • Maintains close liaison with the area they support as well as all other areas of the plant, including peers or employees at other sites.
  • Partners with management to ensure the utilization of the most efficient resources, both internal and external, to accomplish the training objectives.
  • Writes, issues, and updates job aids and other training documents (informationals) as needed by the department.
  • Assists in the development and facilitation of department training in monthly employee meetings.
  • Partners with all areas of the plant to develop and implement new directives from Division and Corporate.
  • Provides support and knowledge to the Training Technicians as needed or requested.
  • Develops improved training content and methodology.
  • Serves as a resource in the department supported on projects and process/equipment implementation.
  • Sets up training schedules to ensure new/transferred employees receive proper training as well as ensuring all other required training is completed and documented according to plant guidelines.
  • Works closely with Quality Systems, Employee Health & Safety, all other manufacturing areas, peers, and some outside vendors on a daily basis.
  • May be involved with personnel issues and disciplinary action as it relates to proper training and documentation of training records.
  • May be asked to provide the supervisor or manager of the area they support with a confidential, objective, and impartial assessment of how employees are progressing in their training.
  • Creates content using various video, photo, and content creation software.
  • Navigates site Learning Management System and Quality Document System to ensure compliance for site training materials.
  • Accountable for meeting compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.
