About The Position

SDLG North America is seeking a Technical Training and Documentation Manager to build and manage technical training programs and documentation that strengthen dealer service capabilities. The role translates technical information and validated field experience into clear instruction, practical learning activities, and reliable reference materials. The manager will develop curricula, deliver online and hands-on instruction, assess learning, and maintain current, approved technical content. The role works closely with aftermarket leadership, field service, parts, dealers, and R&D teams to address service capability gaps and improve information available to North American dealer teams. The position combines office- and home-based content development with online instruction, classroom training, and practical sessions at shops, dealer facilities, and equipment locations. Travel is expected to be approximately 30–50%. Practical sessions may involve noise, outdoor conditions, and proximity to operating machinery; employees must follow applicable site safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Essential functions may be performed with reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • At least five years of relevant heavy equipment experience in service, technical support, technical training, documentation, or related work; this applies to overall relevant experience, not exclusively training roles.
  • Demonstrated teaching and facilitation skills, including explaining technical concepts, demonstrating practical tasks, adapting to different experience levels, and assessing participants’ ability to apply learning.
  • Experience developing structured courses, instructor and participant materials, online learning content, and assessments aligned with specific learning objectives.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills, supported by examples of clear, accurate service, training, or equipment documentation.
  • Practical understanding of heavy equipment systems and diagnostic processes.
  • Ability to interpret service information and schematics and recognize when specialist or R&D validation is required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with service, parts, dealer, and R&D teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, including managing competing priorities and maintaining consistent review and version-control practices.
  • Working proficiency with document and presentation software, online learning or virtual instruction platforms, and digital content organization.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid office and home arrangement and travel approximately 30–50%.
  • A college degree is not required; candidates will be evaluated on practical heavy equipment experience and demonstrated ability to teach, develop learning materials, and write clear technical documentation.

  • Deliver online, classroom, and hands-on technical training to dealer service teams on equipment operation, diagnostic reasoning, service information use, and safe working practices across diesel engine, powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Adapt instruction to participants’ experience levels and provide opportunities to practice and apply new skills.
  • Assess learning through knowledge checks and practical demonstrations aligned with course objectives.
  • Use participant feedback, assessment results, and service team input to improve courses and identify additional training needs.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, service references, troubleshooting guides, and other dealer-use documentation.
