About The Position

This is a non-exempt position where the individual is expected to maintain bench competencies and work at the bench for at least 50% of the time worked. The role involves functioning independently and collaboratively with laboratory leadership in performing all major work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. The specialist will perform a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, and act as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. Responsibilities may include instrument correlation and method validation. The role requires correlating data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results. The specialist will participate in laboratory quality assurance programs and performance improvement activities. Additionally, the role involves assisting with staff and student training, orientation of new employees, updating procedures, and providing technical leadership for areas of responsibility. The specialist will provide direction and problem-solving skills for laboratory functions and implement standardization efforts in the laboratory as directed by laboratory leadership. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Individuals hired into this position are required to complete 2 years in the role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Responsibilities
