About The Position

This entry-level position is responsible for coordinating and supporting technical activities within Distribution Engineering. The role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills. The specialist will provide technical assistance, apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment, and enhance customer satisfaction. This role involves performing assignments in specialized areas requiring technical expertise, reviewing functional specifications, and coordinating activities as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The position may also support the review of technical documentation, basic work planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating. Additionally, it may involve supporting the development and updates of single line diagrams and equipment specifications, material procurement, and collaboration with QA/QC processes. The role provides basic technical support to field and construction groups, utilizes and improves processes and standards, and delivers reporting, including presentations. The position may require extended hours, including storm restoration work and associated drills.

Requirements

  • BS in a technical field or BS Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
  • Zero to two years of professional engineering experience.
  • Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment.
  • Interpersonal and relationship development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve technical issues.
  • Vision acuity to operate vehicle.
  • Hearing - Receive detailed information if spoken to.

Nice To Haves

  • 3.2 GPA or higher preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Working knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments.
  • Experience in utility industry trade organizations.
  • Experience with MS Office, 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance in support of others.

  • Performs assignments in specialized areas requiring technical expertise.
  • Reviews functional specifications for completeness and consideration of practical limitations.
  • Coordinates activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • May support the review of technical documentation.
  • Supports basic work planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating.
  • May support the development and updates of single line diagrams, and equipment specifications for engineering review and approval.
  • Supports material procurement.
  • Collaborates with activities in the QA/QC process.
  • Provides basic technical support to field and construction groups.
  • Utilizes and improves processes and standards.
  • Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and management.
  • May be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
