Technical Sourcing Manager, DC Power Infrastructure

Meta•Seattle, WA
•$208,000 - $289,000

About The Position

The Global Technology Sourcing team develops strategic sourcing strategies and manages external business relationships and internal engineering partnerships to advance supply chain execution, from new product ideation to deployment at scale. The team combines commercial and technical sourcing expertise with manufacturing expertise across critical infrastructure domains, including artificial intelligence, custom silicon development, and power and cooling technologies. Meta is seeking an industry expert to develop strategies that optimize the economics and risk profile of its data center portfolio. The role drives supply enablement for next-generation power generation, energy storage, and power distribution—from the utility substation to the rack—including backup power and resiliency schemes. This includes identifying and evaluating suppliers, validating total cost of ownership, and ensuring suppliers can scale to meet Meta’s needs. The Technical Sourcing Manager partners with R&D Engineering and Product Development to identify emerging power challenges in future data center designs and establish the supply chain technology roadmap and time to market for leading power technologies. The role also works with commercial sourcing managers, manufacturing and component quality engineers, and demand and supply managers to execute strategies and deliver value.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of technical experience in engineering, product management, or supply chain organizations within data center providers, utilities, power electronics, electrical equipment manufacturing, or related infrastructure industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of the power technology market and global supply base, including incumbent and emerging manufacturers of power generation, energy storage, and power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with local grid optimization, modular and prefabricated build solutions, energy storage, and backup power solutions.
  • Familiarity with electrical industry regulations and utility standards.
  • Experience identifying, qualifying, and developing new suppliers, including assessing technical capability and qualifying manufacturing processes.
  • Experience influencing supplier technology roadmaps and driving new product development or qualification with suppliers.
  • Experience assessing supplier technical and manufacturing capabilities and driving capacity ramp against volume commitments.
  • Experience partnering with engineering, research and development, or advanced technology teams to translate technical requirements into supply chain strategy.
  • Experience communicating technical and supply chain recommendations to cross-functional leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience across medium- and high-voltage distribution, on-site power generation, or grid interconnection technologies.
  • Experience with energy management, power quality, controls, and monitoring software solutions.
  • Familiarity with data center cooling technologies, including liquid cooling.
  • Experience leading or participating in industry consortia, standards bodies, or open hardware initiatives.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or cloud data center infrastructure programs through technology transitions.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows and drive measurable impact, such as efficiency gains or quality improvements.
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices, such as risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality and accuracy reviews.
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development, such as prompt/context engineering or agent orchestration, and staying current with emerging AI technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive supply enablement for disruptive and next-generation power technologies; work with R&D Engineering and Product Development to identify future data center power challenges and define supply strategies that bring viable products to market on Meta’s timeline.
  • Lead front-end supplier identification and evaluation, including assessing emerging suppliers and established manufacturers entering new domains and fostering technical relationships.
  • Influence supplier technology roadmaps to meet Meta’s architectural and technical requirements, and lead definition of future technology directions with cross-functional partners.
  • Influence internal infrastructure product direction commercially and technically, provide technical and supplier expertise to cross-functional partners, and support technology migration and lower total cost of ownership.
  • Own and validate total cost of ownership cases for emerging power technologies before Meta commits to solutions.
  • Assess and develop supplier capabilities in manufacturing scale, process maturity, tooling, and material readiness; develop supplier process improvement plans for quality, scale, cost, and deployment timing.
  • Provide technical review and analysis of supplier proposals and RFx responses, and resolve technical queries arising during the quote process.
  • Provide technical expertise in supplier negotiations and review or contribute to product development documents, including statements of work, capacity agreements, and master supply agreements.
  • Develop domain strategies to optimize economic and supply risk outcomes for technology infrastructure; maintain knowledge of technology and industry trends and perform competitive analysis.
  • Build in-depth technical relationships with external partners at leadership level and represent Meta with other organizations at industry events and forums.
