About The Position

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Technical Shop Floor Support representative to join our engineering department based in Kinston, NC. The Kinston Plant Manufacturing Engineering organization ensures that plant assets and tooling are employed with the latest, up to date technology in plant operations, through an environment fully utilizing continuous improvement techniques. The position holder will be responsible for supporting the production facility through the assessment of manufacturing non-conformities, ensuring late changes to production are implemented and supporting and identifying continuous improvement opportunities for the manufacturing processes. Responds to technical questions and explains work orders/drawings, especially for aircraft mechanical related items. Establishes and maintains effective communications with production and serves as interface to the on-site back office for work order adaptation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • Must have 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Aerospace industry.
  • Self-driven with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Strong teamworking and relationship building skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Experience in manufacturing or assembly technology implementation.
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and/or Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs)
  • Excellent command of English (spoken & written).
  • Have the ability to work in an international team.
  • Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to present clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and executives
  • Ability to work on 1st, 2nd, and potentially 3rd shift schedules.
  • Able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Able to travel independently and at short notice, potentially internationally.
  • Able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, Appropriate head, hearing/eye protection will also be required when visiting the shop floor.
  • Authorised to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook or equivalent.
  • Knowledge about aircraft structure installation.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and practice
  • Basic Spanish and / or French (spoken).
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering tool sets (SAP, MES Etc).

Responsibilities

  • Create specific work orders for production rework, establish/verify the technical content of non-conformances, and validate them in the recognised documentation.
  • Provide technical support to production on all issues including oversight of directed changes.
  • Responsible for incorporating implicit knowledge into work instructions and refining them in terms of language, level of detail and regulation assignment to ensure operations have the correct production information.
  • Initiate availability of replacement parts, jigs, and tools required for planned production.
  • Develop. Manage and implement continuous improvement measures with reoccurring non-conformities in cooperation with quality.
  • Participate as an active ME team member to support production activities.
  • Participate in risk and opportunity management for the identification, anticipation and evaluation of upcoming risks (e.g. increasing legal requirements) and opportunities (e.g. technological progress).
  • Implementation and execution of risk mitigation plans (e.g. rate capability).
  • Promote a customer-focused mindset and act as a change leader within the Manufacturing Engineering organisation.
  • Ensure the correct standards are achieved for Aircraft and MOD Configuration for all program variants.
  • Respond to and resolve technical queries from various departments and stakeholders.
  • Define assembly strategies for aircraft components.
  • Validate assembly tools and equipment required to ensure geometric tolerances and process efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned by the management.
