About The Position

The Technical Staff Consultant provides support to the ChemTreat field sales representatives as needed throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The role involves actively participating in the technology selection stage of the sales process, acting as the key technical advisor and product advocate. This position requires assisting account managers in understanding client business conditions, identifying and documenting issues and recommendations, and interfacing with clients to become a trusted advisor. The consultant will also be available for field sales assistance, including plant surveys, proposal preparation, sales presentations, and customer entertainment. A significant portion of the role involves travel, with an average of three days per week spent on the road. Supplemental responsibilities include proficiency with ChemTreat portable field equipment, providing office support when not traveling, assisting in field seminars and new account startups, and providing sales and marketing support for specific industries. Field troubleshooting and technical assistance, including problem-solving, sales representative training, operator training, and equipment inspections, are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Technical and in-depth knowledge in one or more key industries, including boiler internal treatment, BFW pretreatment, cooling water treatment, biological wastewater and surface water clarification
  • Ability to present treatment recommendations in both oral and written communications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor of Arts/Sciences or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, comparable military experience, or related fields is required.
  • 15 or more years’ experience with a major water treatment company.
  • Background in one or more key industries involving boiler, pretreatment, and open process cooling water treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to ChemTreat sales representatives in product screening and treatment program selections, the application of chosen treatment programs, and in troubleshooting treatment programs to meet the customer’s cost and performance objectives.
  • Actively participate in the technology selection stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for products and solutions.
  • Assist account managers in conducting interviews with client management to gain an understanding of client business conditions, risks, and controls.
  • Identify, develop, and document issues and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed.
  • Interface with clients leads and become a trusted advisor or confidant to the client.
  • Cultivate successful client relationships.
  • Be available for field sales assistance to include plant surveys, proposal preparation, sales presentations, and customer/prospect entertainment with the involvement of our field sales representatives.
  • Conduct equipment inspections classified as confined space as defined by OSHA.
  • Provide office support function when not traveling to include telephone assistance, proposal and drawing proofreading, bid preparation, etc., as requested by our office clerical staff.
  • Assist in field seminars, entertainment outings, and new account startup as directed by your manager.
  • Provide sales and marketing support for specific industries.
  • Provide field troubleshooting and technical assistance as required to include problem solving, sales representative on-site training, operator training, and equipment inspections.
