About The Position

Northbrook Public Library seeks a Technical Services Assistant Manager to help lead their Technical Services Department. This role focuses on acquisitions and technical processing workflows, requiring excellent communication, critical thinking, data analysis, and efficient workflow management. The Assistant Manager will oversee the materials workflow, support and guide a team of staff, and work under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager. Responsibilities include training and coaching staff, managing daily operations, maintaining vendor relations, shaping workflows, and contributing to departmental goals and the library's strategic plan. This position is ideal for a problem solver with library experience and a passion for team development, who can adapt to changing needs and find solutions for a positive patron experience.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant library or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of integrated library systems.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Strengths in data analysis.
  • Strengths in communication.
  • Strengths in time management.
  • Strengths in problem solving.
  • Strengths in training.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, service-focused environment.
  • Skills gained outside of traditional education are encouraged.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Polaris Client is a plus.
