About The Position

The Technical Services Apprenticeship Programs offer intensive training across several skilled trades. The Utilities Journeyman Apprenticeship is a 4-year program focusing on Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC, combining classroom instruction with on-the-job training to prepare apprentices for licensed Journeyman roles. The Restaurant Equipment Apprenticeship is a 3-year program designed to train individuals for Restaurant Equipment Technician positions, covering installation, maintenance, service, and repair of commercial kitchen equipment through classroom and OJT. The Ride & Show Apprenticeship is a 2-year program focused on developing Ride & Show Technicians through educational courses, role rotations, and OJT, with an emphasis on basic ride theory, electrical, control, and mechanical systems. Apprentices in all programs are expected to take ownership of their learning, actively participate in training, attend courses, complete assignments, and maximize learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Attendance to a 2026 in-person Apprenticeship Information Session for the specific trade program of interest.
  • 1 year of continuous service with UO by application deadline.
  • Minimum 8 attendance credits.
  • No written performance counselings within the last 6 months (safety included).
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Available to work ALL shifts, including 3rd shift (overnight) hours, and attend selected daytime classes.
  • Physically capable of performing essential job functions, including the ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 210 feet.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment within respective tracks (Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC).
  • Gain knowledge and experience in service, repair, maintenance, and installation of commercial and industrial restaurant kitchen equipment.
  • Gain exposure and experience on various systems including basic ride theory, electrical, control, and mechanical systems.
  • Take ownership of learning through self-discipline and initiative.
  • Actively participate in all phases of hands-on training.
  • Regularly attend custom-designed courses.
  • Meet course requirements.
  • Complete all assignments and projects in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Maximize learning opportunities.
