About The Position

This position exists to ensure the safe, efficient, cost effective and a highly productive work environment when performing requested service and project engineering work at customer facilities. The Technical Service and Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting the commercial engineering projects of the business both inhouse and during contractor execution of work at customer facilities 7 days a week. The position is responsible for supporting the management and sales of service engineering commercial project efforts in conjunction with the commercial project engineering team. This includes, but is not limited to, commercial sales, fabrication quality inspection of fabricated equipment, providing technical assistance to onsite contractors and customers, creation of processes and work instructions, contract and customer training, detailing special instructions and onsite problem solving as required. The Technical Service and Sales Engineer is responsible for the planning and execution onsite client activities. These efforts include facilities equipment inspections and operational system evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a similar field is preferred, but equivalent years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • 5 - 10 years of project engineering experience in the Chemical Industry with Engineering Sales and/or Project Management experience preferred.
  • 5 -10 years of related industrial experience
  • Ability to maintain relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with staff and customers
  • Able to work with a diverse group from different backgrounds and different disciplines
  • Excellent conflict management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong inter-personal and management skills (communicating, motivating, and developing team members)

  • Expertise in SAP
  • Drug testing and background checks nationwide, programs include Houston Area Safety Council, DISA, Coats, LA Area and whatever other site-specific training is needed.
  • Ability to travel frequently- 30-50%

Responsibilities

  • As part of the commercial sales team, work with and support the regional sales and engineering directors in all efforts to manage customer required engineering service work.
  • Provide technical expertise and direction to assist to clients to improve client product satisfaction and facilitate successful operation of provided engineering services and products. Ensure good customer relations and maintain open customer communications.
  • Define maintenance processes and develop new engineering procedures to provide a stable environment that promotes efficient technical assistance and a safe onsite work environment.
  • Develop and manage programs to pro-actively reduce commercial engineering onsite and project costs, improve fabrication efficiencies, and align commercial engineering priorities consistent with the optimization of client requirements.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships based on existing customer list, with a focus on customers who have not recently been visited.
