About The Position

Our valued client, Ignition Marine, is seeking to fill a brand new position, Technical Service Operations Manager (Technical Manager), to oversee the day-to-day execution of the Technicians’ marine service work. In this critical role, you will supervise technicians, coordinate workflow, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a world-class standard. Reporting to the Senior Service Manager, you will not only coordinate daily work priorities but also provide the hands-on troubleshooting, quality control, and mentorship required to keep complex yachting projects on track and clients fully satisfied. Ignition Marine is an ISO 9001-accredited marine solutions provider based in North Vancouver that delivers comprehensive services for vessels ranging from recreational to commercial ships. Acting as a premier "Pacific Northwest Marine Centre," the company specializes in yacht sales and brokerage while operating a full-service technical department that handles mechanical engine repairs, electrical systems, structural fibreglass fabrication, and complete vessel refits. The broad scope of expertise extends to specialized offerings such as marine repowering, insurance claim repairs, professional skipper services, and canvas fabrication, all supported by a team of certified marine engineers and technicians focused on high-performance quality control.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in yachting marine service operations, technical coordination, or field service environments within the marine industry, with an additional 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role. Direct experience servicing pleasure crafts is mandatory
  • Solid knowledge of end-to-end marine service operations. You are capable of reading and translating technical documentation into clear operational tasks for technicians and have a demonstrated understanding of pleasure craft vessel operations; You can perform all aspects of full-service repairs and maintenance
  • Experience working within structured quality systems (like ISO 9001) and a strong working knowledge of safety procedures, hazard identification, and safe work practices
  • Strong computer skills are essential. You must be able to accurately manage and track operational data using scheduling tools and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to lead the team effectively, brief management, and document technical reports
  • Proven ability to supervise a team of 10+ staff. You possess strong accountability, a proactive problem-solving approach, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams while maintaining a respectful, no-blame environment
  • Personally resilient, with the capacity to demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or technical certifications in marine, mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems

Responsibilities

  • Review Repair Orders (ROs), perform comprehensive initial inspections using mobile forms, and conduct daily morning briefings to clarify the scope of work, job priorities, and safety hazards
  • Provide hands-on leadership and problem-solving support for technicians. Assist with troubleshooting engines, electronics, and complex marine systems
  • Supervise daily execution, perform ongoing QC checks at key stages, and conduct post-service inspections. Identify and address deficiencies or deviations from technical standards
  • Maintain awareness of operational timelines, including delivery dates, splashes, lifts, and sea trials. Coordinate the sequencing of work to support on-time delivery and notify the Project Manager upon job completion
  • Assess parts availability before starting major projects, coordinate closely with the Parts Manager to resolve shortages, and ensure the proper handling of tools and client property
  • Monitor HSE compliance across all activities, identifying hazards, reporting risks, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring the absolute safety of staff and client vessels
  • Foster teamwork, professionalism, and accountability; promote a positive, "no-blame" work environment
