Technical Project Manager

ThriftBooksTukwila, WA
$110,000 - $150,000Onsite

About The Position

ThriftBooks is the world’s largest used book retailer—and one of the most mission-driven e-commerce companies you’ll find. Every book we sell keeps a book out of a landfill and puts affordable reads into people’s hands. We’ve grown from a startup to a high-scale operation by investing in smart technology, strong teams, and a culture that rewards initiative. This is a place where your work visibly matters, where cross-functional trust is the norm, and where performance opens doors. If you want to do meaningful work at the intersection of tech, data, and e-commerce—without losing sight of the human element—keep reading. We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager who thrives in the space between “what the business needs” and “what the system can do.” You’ll be the connective tissue across Marketing, Web Development, Data Engineering, and Product—turning ambiguous problems into shipped solutions.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of technical project management experience, ideally in e-commerce, SaaS, or a high-growth digital environment
  • Hands-on background in software engineering, database development, or a related technical discipline—enough to earn engineering respect
  • Proven track record delivering complex, multi-team projects on time and with measurable impact
  • Strong SQL fluency; experience with data-driven systems and analytics workflows
  • Excellent requirements-gathering and documentation skills—you write specs that engineers and stakeholders both understand
  • Agile/Scrum practitioner

Nice To Haves

  • Scrum Master certification is a plus
  • Martech ecosystem familiarity is a strong plus
  • MBA preferred but not required—we care more about how you think than what’s on your diploma

Responsibilities

  • Drive End-to-End Delivery: Own the full project lifecycle: scoping, requirements, development, QA/UAT, deployment, and change management
  • Translate fuzzy business problems into precise technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Build and manage roadmaps, timelines, and resource plans across concurrent initiatives
  • Lead with Technical Credibility: Partner with engineering at a code-and-schema level—understanding system constraints, not just reporting around them
  • Contribute to UX/UI mockups and prototypes when needed
  • Support data investigations using SQL; comfortable navigating analytics pipelines and martech integrations
  • Clear Blockers, Not Just Track Them: Identify risks, dependencies, and blockers early—and actively drive resolution, not just escalation
  • Facilitate alignment between technical and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • Lead sprint planning, grooming, and backlog prioritization in an Agile environment
  • Build for Scale: Own intake for new technical and marketing projects; build repeatable, scalable processes
  • Create and maintain documentation that people actually use: workflows, specs, SOPs, diagrams
  • Evaluate tools and workflows continuously and propose meaningful improvements

Benefits

  • Annual 10% bonus incentive
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Earn Paid Time Off at Accrual Rate of 15-days per year
  • Six Paid Holidays per calendar year
  • Medical & Vision Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Company paid STD/LTD
  • Company paid Life Insurance
  • 401k match program
  • Professional development & promotion from within
  • Work with nice, fun people
  • The Best Perk: Free Books. Obviously.
