Technical Project Manager

Scicom Infrastructure Services•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

The Technical Project Manager leads and delivers complex, enterprise-scale initiatives across engineering, infrastructure, and business teams. The role focuses on project management leadership, including planning, governance, risk management, and stakeholder alignment. Familiarity with data and analytics platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake is an advantage because many initiatives involve data platform implementations and migrations. The ideal candidate takes projects from concept through execution and keeps cross-functional teams aligned. They have enough technical fluency to work credibly with engineers and architects without needing to be one. Success means delivering projects on time, within scope, and with measurable business outcomes; keeping stakeholders engaged, informed, and confident in progress; proactively managing risks and dependencies; establishing clear priorities and shared accountability across technical and business teams; and improving delivery practices with each project.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience managing technical projects in enterprise environments.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex, multi-workstream projects on time and within scope.
  • Strong command of project management fundamentals, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change management.
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall delivery methods and tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar.
  • Enough technical fluency to work credibly with engineering teams on infrastructure, cloud, or data projects.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, including reporting to executives.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in complex, fast-moving environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering data and analytics projects, such as platform implementations, migrations, or data warehouse modernization.
  • Working understanding of big data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Spark/Hadoop ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline concepts (ETL/ELT), data warehousing, and lakehouse architecture.
  • Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Awareness of data governance, data quality, and metadata management practices.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified ScrumMaster, or similar certification; Databricks or Snowflake certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as financial services or healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technical projects, including platform implementations, migrations, and modernization efforts.
  • Define scope, timelines, milestones, and deliverables, and manage changes through a defined change control process.
  • Build and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Identify risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints early, and drive mitigation to closure.
  • Track budget and resource use against plan.
  • Provide clear, regular status reports to stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Align engineering, analytics, infrastructure, security, and business teams around shared goals and priorities.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, work breakdowns, and execution plans.
  • Facilitate project meetings, sprint ceremonies, working sessions, and decision forums.
  • Manage third-party vendors and consulting partners, including SOW deliverables and performance.
  • Escalate issues with clear options and recommendations.
  • Act as the delivery liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineers and architects to understand solution designs sufficiently to plan, sequence, and track work.
  • Ask questions to confirm technical solutions meet business and functional requirements.
  • Ensure technical decisions, dependencies, and tradeoffs are documented and communicated.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, standards, RAID logs, and documentation.
  • Ensure projects meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Run delivery using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methods as appropriate.
  • Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in delivery practices.
