About The Position

The Technical Project Manager drives high-velocity execution of critical, business-impacting initiatives for Applied Materials’ Varian division. The role manages a portfolio of cost reduction, resiliency, and value engineering projects from concept through qualification and production enablement. The position creates forecasts for cost savings, timing, and delivery risk, aligns initiatives with product roadmaps and business priorities, and owns outcomes to ensure measurable business impact. It works across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain, influencing stakeholders and accelerating decision-making in a complex, matrixed organization. The role also integrates value programs into product strategies and drives early business-unit alignment and disciplined execution at scale. The role is suited to someone with experience managing large, multi-threaded project portfolios in semiconductor capital equipment or similarly complex manufacturing environments, and a record of delivering cost and operational improvements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
5–10 years of experience with increasing responsibility leading complex cross-functional programs.
Demonstrated track record delivering multi-million-dollar cost reduction and value engineering programs.
Experience managing multi-project portfolios with measurable business impact.
Strong expertise in product cost structure and value engineering for complex electromechanical systems.
Ability to build cost models, evaluate trade-offs, and quantify business impact.
Track record of influencing engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain without direct authority.
Ability to communicate clearly with technical teams and senior leadership.
Deep domain expertise in product cost structure, materials, and sourcing strategies, translating technical and supply chain insights into measurable cost and performance improvements.
Broad working knowledge across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain disciplines.
Strong business acumen and ability to anticipate technical, operational, and regulatory challenges and adapt program strategies.
Ability to work at both component and system levels, maintaining focus on product and portfolio impact.
Structured, data-driven problem-solving skills for complex and ambiguous challenges, balancing analytical rigor with speed of execution.

Responsibilities

Define and drive product-level cost reduction, resiliency, and value engineering strategy; build and manage a multi-year roadmap aligned to division cost objectives.
Own a portfolio of value programs across implanter product lines, prioritizing initiatives by business impact, feasibility, and resource constraints.
Lead program execution from concept through qualification and production enablement, delivering against cost, schedule, and performance targets.
Develop and maintain cost models and forecasts; track realized savings and report performance against plan to stakeholders and leadership.
Integrate value initiatives into product roadmaps, align early with business units, and influence prioritization decisions.
Drive cross-functional execution across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain; remove barriers, resolve conflicts, and accelerate decisions.
Partner with engineering to identify design, sourcing, and specification opportunities that improve cost, manufacturability, and supply chain resilience.
Evaluate trade-offs across cost, risk, quality, and schedule to support informed decisions and program success.
Monitor program health, risks, dependencies, and critical-path activities; escalate and resolve issues affecting delivery.
Use internal and external benchmarks to improve value program strategy, execution rigor, and business impact.
Lead complex, high-impact programs with significant technical, operational, and business risk, creating clarity and alignment in ambiguous environments.
Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority, hold stakeholders accountable, and drive decisions that advance program outcomes.
Align stakeholders across functions and levels, including senior leadership, and communicate to drive understanding, prioritization, and action.
