About The Position

Optimus Technologies is seeking a Technical Project Manager to coordinate Engineering projects from concept through production release, and Vector System implementations and SMARTFuel installations from contract close through in-service. The role serves as a strategic organizer who keeps deadlines and commitments on track through rigorous planning, schedule management, and strong interpersonal skills. The position builds on existing tools, templates, and workflows and refines them as products and the team evolve. Working as a hub between Engineering and the rest of the company, the Technical Project Manager partners with customer-facing teams to turn customer and product requirements into clear, executable plans. The role requires navigating competing priorities, working with a small team whose members handle multiple responsibilities, communicating candidly across all levels, and exercising sound judgment when situations fall outside established processes. The position is predominantly in office and includes travel to support installations and field activities. It is a full-time salaried position with a stated salary range of $118,275–$127,500 per year and benefits.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years managing engineering, hardware, manufacturing, vehicle upfit, or industrial equipment projects from concept through delivery.
  • Familiarity with the product development lifecycle, including design reviews, prototyping, testing and validation, and engineering change management.
  • Working knowledge of production workflows, build scheduling, and supply chain lead times in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within scope, budget, and deadlines.
  • Experience growing and adapting project management processes or systems in a small or rapidly growing organization using a practical, right-sized approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority and keep multi-hat teams aligned across competing priorities.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities while staying organized, calm, and decisive across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools, such as ClickUp, Asana, MS Project, or Smartsheet.
  • Passion for alternative energy solutions.
  • Adaptability to changing workloads, conditions, and environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work in outdoor, warehouse, and shop conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a technical discipline, or Project Management.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience in a start-up or rapid-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to execute project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables aligned with organizational goals, keeping a small multi-hat team focused on priorities.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliverables, including design milestones, drawings and documentation, bills of materials, and engineering change orders, ensuring they are complete, approved, and on schedule.
  • Keep projects moving through shifting priorities and incomplete information by identifying obstacles early, proposing solutions, and escalating thoughtfully when needed.
  • Build and maintain critical-path project schedules, such as Gantt charts, and collaborate proactively to identify and mitigate risks and internal bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, and Field Service to translate customer commitments into engineering deliverables, build plans, production sequencing, and installation schedules that meet agreed in-service dates.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for project status, providing Sales and other customer-facing teams with accurate timelines, progress updates, and risk information to share with customers.
  • Ensure builds and installations meet internal and external quality standards, and coordinate final acceptance and handoff to ongoing support.
  • Provide timely project status, risk, and pending-issue updates to leadership.
  • Maintain project documentation and turn lessons learned from active implementations into repeatable processes.
