Technical Program Manager, Security

Cape
$180,000 - $230,000Remote

About The Position

Cape is hiring its first Security Technical Program Manager, a unique opportunity to establish this function from the ground up within a company where security is the core product. This role involves direct integration with Security Engineering across its three key areas: detection and response, corporate security, and product security. The position requires a broad understanding of the entire security landscape to set priorities, define success metrics, and accelerate progress. The TPM will act as the crucial link between security engineering and Cape's approximately 70-person engineering organization, navigating the increasingly complex balance between speed and security, especially with the proliferation of AI tools. The metrics developed by this role will influence company-wide policy and prioritization, and their judgment will guide the company's Software Bill of Materials (SBOM).

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a TPM or PM embedded with a security team that builds tooling and systems in-house.
  • Solid grounding in computer engineering fundamentals; comfortable going deep on technical detail with engineers across detection & response, corporate security, and product security.
  • Track record of defining and communicating technical programs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong prioritization and backlog management skills, with the judgment to know what matters most.
  • Comfort operating as a trusted technical liaison between specialized teams and a large, distributed engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the security program's strategy, priorities, and progress to the broader business.
  • Shape how Cape brings new security tools into the fold, from vendor procurement through implementation, powering the stack that keeps our security org running.
  • Keep the security engineering team on track — manage priorities, maintain the backlog, and drive execution across detection & response, corporate security, and product security.
  • Serve as the technical go-between for security engineers and Cape's ~70 product engineers, translating security requirements and risk into terms product teams can act on, and vice versa.
  • Partner with security engineering leadership to plan roadmaps, run program rituals, and unblock cross-team dependencies.
  • Build trust and clear communication channels with engineering stakeholders across the company.

  • Competitive compensation that is geo-adjusted based on your location
  • Meaningful equity
  • 401(k) match
