About The Position

The Technical Program Manager Intern will join Meta Reality Labs’ Global Supply Management (GSM) team and be placed on a specific commodity team from the start, working across Electrical & Electro-Mechanical (EE/EM) or Strategic Silicon. The GSM team sources components for Reality Labs hardware, sets sourcing strategy, manages supplier cost and capacity, and supports production through program milestones and ramp. The intern will own a project from definition through completion, with work based on an active team need and intended for practical use. The intern will present findings and recommendations to team leadership and partner with sourcing managers, product cost engineering, engineering, quality and technical operations on sourcing decisions. The EE/EM team sources electrical and electro-mechanical components such as speakers, fans, passive components, PCBs and cables. The Strategic Silicon team sources components including SoCs, ASICs, memory, sensors, connectivity and analog ICs, and supports system-in-package engagements, custom silicon and IP needs. Potential projects include supplier benchmarking and dual-source qualification planning, supplier market and capacity intelligence, supply and capacity analysis across a silicon commodity’s program lifecycle, and modeling cost and lead-time trade-offs for packaging or SiP sourcing decisions. The role may involve supplier RFQs and bid comparisons, should-cost and part-cost modeling, sourcing strategy development, single-source risk analysis, clear-to-build monitoring, supply readiness support, supplier performance tracking, dashboards and automated reporting. Interns will use Meta’s internal AI tools to support analysis, reporting and data collection. Compensation is listed as $6,688–$10,800 per month, plus benefits.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a Master’s degree, or an MBA with an undergraduate background in supply chain or electrical engineering.
  • Coursework or experience in supply chain, procurement, cost modeling or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with silicon, electronic or electro-mechanical parts and how they are made, such as fab, OSAT, SMT, injection molding or assembly.
  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, packaging, molding, machining, stamping or finishing.
  • Experience building cost models, dashboards or automated reports, for example in Tableau, Power BI or Python.

  • Prior internship, co-op or project experience in sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, hardware engineering or consumer electronics.
  • Interest in consumer electronics hardware and global manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Own a scoped project from definition through final deliverable and present findings and recommendations to team leadership.
  • Support commodity sourcing activities, including supplier RFQs, quote collection, bid comparisons and award recommendations with Engineering, Quality and Technical Operations.
  • Build bottom-up should-cost models for key parts, test them against supplier quotes, and support part cost modeling across material, conversion, tooling and non-recurring engineering.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for part categories, including supplier landscapes, cost and lead-time benchmarks, and the cost of qualifying a new source.
  • Map single-source dependencies, assess risk by value, lead time and qualification cost, and recommend when a second source should be required.
  • Build an early-warning view of clear-to-build status comparing weeks of supply against demand, and support ramp planning, risk-buy strategy and qualification.
  • Set up a central spend dashboard or automated supplier scorecard and help monitor supplier delivery, quality and yield, including containment and recovery tracking.
  • Use Meta’s internal AI tools to automate analysis, reporting and data collection, and build dashboards tracking supply mapping, spend, capacity and other key metrics.
