Technical Program Manager, Electrical Equipment

Fluidstack•Austin, TX
•$200,000 - $250,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI and is looking for individuals who care deeply about this mission. The company is focused on delivering massive amounts of compute power faster than anyone else by rethinking every layer of the stack, from acquiring power to operating data centers. The Engineering Program Management Team is responsible for running Fluidstack's infrastructure R&D programs. This specific role is within the Electrical Equipment product engineering group, which is tasked with designing and manufacturing medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchboards and busway, and prefabricated electrical skids and e-houses in-house, rather than purchasing them from the market. The primary objective of this role is to drive these designs from concept to a released, manufacturable product on a schedule that the factory and build processes can accommodate.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical program management experience with electrical or electromechanical hardware designed and manufactured in-house, ideally including switchgear, switchboards, power distribution, or electrical enclosures.
  • Experience taking at least one hardware product from concept through design release and first production lot, managing design review gates.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing, configuration management, and the process of using a bill of materials, drawing package, and test procedure to enable a design on a factory line.
  • Ability to read electrical single-lines, equipment schedules, and mechanical drawings to identify potential issues.
  • Experience managing component suppliers and sub-supplier qualification according to a design schedule.
  • Skill in writing clear, concise status updates that are actionable for executives and unambiguous for engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical engineering degree or PE license.
  • Experience with UL 891, UL 1558, or IEEE C37 product certification.
  • Experience with new product introduction in a low-volume, high-mix factory.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design program, owning the integrated plan for electrical equipment product lines from requirements through design release, and holding the engineering team to its gates.
  • Schedule and run concept, preliminary, and critical design reviews, capturing decisions and actions, and ensuring their closure before the next gate.
  • Integrate manufacturing engineering, quality, and supply chain into the design process early to ensure bills of materials, tolerances, and test procedures are ready at design release.
  • Manage the component supply chain, tracking long-lead components, sub-supplier qualification, and second sourcing against the design schedule, and escalating potential issues.
  • Maintain configuration control by keeping specifications, drawings, and change requests in a single, controlled set for factory production.
  • Report program status, risks, and spend transparently to engineering leadership without being prompted.

Benefits

  • Commitment to pay equity and transparency.
  • Equal Employment Opportunity Employer status.
