Technical Product Manager (Spectrum Dominance)

Motorola Solutions•Irvine, CA
•$180,000 - $220,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Silvus Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, is seeking a Technical Product Manager to drive technical requirements, backlog ownership, market adoption, and revenue growth for its Spectrum Dominance product portfolio. The role translates complex defense requirements and advanced R&D algorithms into software features, firmware builds, and intuitive operator experiences. It serves as a technical conduit between waveform R&D and engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams, with ownership of the spectrum dominance suite and its software and firmware backlog. The position focuses on translating signal-processing research—particularly Low Probability of Intercept/Low Probability of Detection (LPI/LPD) and anti-jamming techniques—into actionable requirements and reliable military systems. The manager will align waveforms with Silvus’s MN-MIMO architecture and StreamCaster hardware, manage agile delivery, incorporate field and customer feedback, and support product adoption and revenue growth. The role is based at Silvus Technologies’ Irvine, California engineering and R&D office, with a hybrid schedule that includes one day per week at the West Los Angeles headquarters. On-site days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in Irvine and Thursdays in West Los Angeles. Depending on location, U.S.-based candidates may be eligible for fully remote work. Travel is required to support field testing, customer integrations, meetings, and office visits; the posting gives both 25% and 25–50% estimates in different sections. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline and at least five years of technical product management or systems engineering experience in defense, aerospace, or wireless communications. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have an active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or be able to obtain one within 15 months of hire. Employment is contingent on successful background and drug checks. The stated annual compensation range is $180,000–$220,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, RF Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of technical product management or systems engineering experience in defense, aerospace, or wireless communications.
  • Working knowledge of signal processing, wireless communications, RF systems, software-defined radios, digital signal processing, or mobile ad hoc networks.
  • Experience translating complex mathematical algorithms, scientific concepts, or military use cases into clear, actionable software requirements and user stories.
  • Ability to influence and align cross-functional R&D, engineering, operations, and sales teams without direct authority to meet release timelines.
  • Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship due to work with clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to travel; the posting states up to 25% in one section and 25–50% in another.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs. and perform bending, reaching, kneeling or squatting, and walking/moving in labs.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with LPI/LPD, electronic counter-countermeasures, anti-jamming, or spectrum-monitoring solutions.
  • Familiarity with passive RF sensing, spectral analysis, direction finding, angle-of-arrival localization, or tactical signal-intelligence systems.
  • Understanding of government compliance targets, military environmental standards (MIL-STD), or security certifications such as FIPS 140-3 and CSfC validation architectures.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, RF Engineering, or Computer Science, or an MBA from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and managing complex backlogs using tools such as Jira.

Responsibilities

  • Translate DoD mission requirements, signal-analysis concepts, and electromagnetic spectrum operations needs into structured user stories and technical specifications.
  • Partner with R&D engineering to convert LPI/LPD and anti-jamming techniques into features and an intuitive operator experience.
  • Own the end-to-end software and firmware backlog, requirements definition, and user experience for spectrum dominance features.
  • Coordinate with R&D and software engineering to integrate waveforms with the MN-MIMO architecture and StreamCaster hardware platforms.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release cadences using Jira.
  • Analyze customer and sales requests, development timelines, and scope trade-offs to balance schedule constraints with field expectations.
  • Capture operational feedback, field-trial results, and operator testing notes and use them to update backlog stories and improve software solutions.
  • Drive product adoption and collaborate with sales to generate interest and revenue growth.
  • Monitor product performance and define continuous software refinement cycles to address user experience debt and emerging threat vectors.
  • Coordinate R&D, software engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams to align product execution with business strategy, monetization, licensing, and delivery timelines.
  • Translate market intelligence, DoD program specifications, and competitor threat assessments into backlog priorities.
  • Travel to support field testing, customer integrations, customer meetings, and visits to Silvus offices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
