Technical Product Manager (Spectrum Dominance)

Motorola Solutions•Washington, NV

About The Position

Silvus Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, is seeking a Technical Product Manager to drive technical requirements, backlog ownership, market adoption, and revenue growth for its Spectrum Dominance product portfolio. The role reports to the Director of Product Management and serves as the technical link between waveform research and development, engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams. The Technical Product Manager owns the spectrum dominance suite and translates defense mission requirements, signal-processing research, and electronic spectrum operations needs—including low probability of intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) and anti-jamming—into software and firmware requirements, user stories, features, and operator experiences. The role guides integration of advanced waveforms with Silvus’ MN-MIMO architecture and StreamCaster hardware, manages the product backlog and releases, and uses customer, field-trial, and market feedback to improve product performance and adoption. The position is based at Silvus Technologies’ Irvine, California engineering and R&D office, with a hybrid schedule that includes one day at the West Los Angeles headquarters. The stated office schedule is Monday through Wednesday in Irvine and Thursday at the West Los Angeles HQ. The position may be 100% remote depending on the candidate’s U.S. location, with travel to support field testing, customer integrations and meetings, and Silvus offices. Travel requirements are listed as 25–50% in the posting. The work takes place in office, trade-show, and outdoor demonstration environments. Field tests or demonstrations may involve occasional exposure to heat, cold, or allergens. The role requires lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and performing bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and walking or moving in labs. Annual compensation is $180,000–$220,000, with actual pay based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Employment is contingent on successfully passing a background check and drug test; the role requires U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, RF Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of technical product management or systems engineering experience in defense, aerospace, or wireless communications.
  • Working knowledge of signal processing, wireless communications, RF systems, software-defined radios (SDRs), digital signal processing (DSP), or mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs).
  • Experience translating complex mathematical algorithms, scientific concepts, or military use cases into clear, actionable software requirements and user stories.
  • Ability to influence and align R&D, engineering, operations, and sales teams without direct authority to meet strict release timelines.
  • Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship, due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to travel; the posting lists travel requirements of 25–50%.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and perform bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and walking or moving in labs.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with LPI/LPD, electronic counter-countermeasures, anti-jamming, or spectrum monitoring solutions.
  • Familiarity with passive RF sensing, spectral analysis, Direction Finding, Angle of Arrival localization, or tactical signal intelligence systems.
  • Understanding of government compliance targets, military environmental standards (MIL-STD), or security certifications such as FIPS 140-3 and CSfC validation architectures.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, RF Engineering, or Computer Science, or an MBA from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices and managing complex backlogs with tools such as Jira.

Responsibilities

  • Translate DoD mission requirements, mathematical signal-analysis concepts, and electromagnetic spectrum operations needs into structured user stories and technical specifications.
  • Work with R&D engineering to turn LPI/LPD and anti-jamming techniques into product features and intuitive operator experiences.
  • Own the end-to-end software and firmware backlog, requirements definition, and user experience for spectrum dominance features.
  • Coordinate with R&D and software engineering to integrate advanced waveforms with the MN-MIMO architecture and StreamCaster hardware platforms.
  • Plan sprints, groom the backlog, and manage release cadences using Jira.
  • Analyze technical and schedule implications of customer and sales feature requests, evaluate engineering timelines, and set scope boundaries.
  • Capture operational feedback, field-trial results, and operator testing notes and incorporate them into backlog priorities and user stories.
  • Drive product adoption and collaborate with sales to generate product interest and revenue growth.
  • Monitor product performance and define ongoing software refinement cycles to address user-experience issues and new threat vectors.
  • Align R&D, software engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams with business strategy, software monetization, licensing, and delivery timelines.
  • Use market intelligence, upcoming DoD program specifications, and competitor threat assessments to set backlog priorities.
  • Travel to support field testing, customer integrations, and customer meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
