About The Position

The Technical Product Manager independently manages key efforts, timelines, and metrics for team supported systems of minor to moderate complexity. They collaborate closely with IT, Business, and Operations, and may guide Associate Technical Product Managers. This role emphasizes applying and expanding core project/product management skills, deeply understanding evolving system needs, and leveraging technical acumen to drive efficiency and performance of supported systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences or related field
• 5 years of experience in technical product manager or similar product management role
• Advanced knowledge of project management, withing a technical or software development environment.
• Strong working experience with project management methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, and Mixed
• Working knowledge of the Systems and Services Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Advanced organizational skills including attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities.
• Working Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Lucid Charts/Visio, or BMC Helix
• Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Nice To Haves

• 5 + years’ experience in technical product manager or similar product management role or with project management foundation
• PMP certification or CAPM or CSM
• Strong professional experience with Jira, Confluence, Lucid Charts/Visio, and BMC Helix
• Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or 5 years of project management experience or certification

Responsibilities

• Defines the milestones and tasks for team efforts based on information gathered from team members, business partners, and vendors. Tracks and presents progress, identifies opportunities, remediates roadblocks, and aligns team resources on efforts based on priority. Maintains team effort roadmap and reviews with management and more senior Technical Product Managers to ensure alignment with larger strategic initiatives and BAU required work. Works closely with management to ensure team members have resources needed and alerts management of any potential concerns. Coordinates implementations and go-live strategies. Supports many systems of all ranges of complexity and stands in for other Technical Product Managers of like or less complex systems.
• Leads planning, maintenance, and communication of comprehensive team capacity and capability projections, spanning beyond 18 months. This role critically evaluates product/system/project roadmap, integrated systems roadmaps, and end of life/end of support projects to anticipate future needs, proactively identifying complex resource constraints or significant capability gaps and supporting management in addressing these concerns. Collaborates strategically with Business Owners/Managers, EPMO, and other IT peers to ensure long term success while also ensuring technical feasibility and strategic alignment, including influencing critical business decisions.
• Defines and owns the metric requirements for tracking comprehensive measurement of the effectiveness of team's efforts. Measure performance against strategic KPIs, conducting in-depth trend analyses to uncover complex insights and opportunities, and proactively presenting data-driven recommendations and strategic implications to management, senior and executive leadership and other IT and Business partners.
• Defines and proactively communicates current and future process improvement opportunities and best practices within the team and department, placing strong emphasis on identifying and evangelizing opportunities for reusability and automation while ensuring risk mitigation strategies are considered. Communicating and presenting these opportunities and recommendations to peers, management, senior leadership, and executive leadership.
• Develop, implement, and continuously optimize team standard operating procedures. Ensure consistent adherence to department and organization Policies, Standards, Technical Guidelines and formally defined processes and procedures, with a strong emphasis on embedding and enforcing security and privacy policies across all systems within their responsibility. Keep up to date with evolving industry standards, and present findings to management.
• Observe, discuss with individual team members on, and report on skills gaps within team to management, aligning these initiatives directly with evolving roadmaps and prioritized efforts. Determine and present on potential mentorship opportunities, collaborating with internal and external peers. Champion these initiatives by demonstrating clear ROI and impact on team maturation. Coaching team members on opportunities for professional growth.
