About The Position

POLITICO is seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to design and deliver tools and features for AgencyIQ by POLITICO, a policy-driven product serving regulatory professionals in the life sciences, food, and chemicals sectors. The role shapes AgencyIQ’s roadmap and helps the product team move from customer insight to working solutions more quickly. It spans product innovation, including AI-driven tools, commercial strategy, and technology execution, with the goal of driving measurable growth in subscriber acquisition, engagement, and retention across both product lines. The Technical Product Manager will combine technical capabilities with the ability to translate subscriber insights into product roadmaps that deliver commercial results. The role partners with research, editorial, technology, data, design, engineering, and commercial teams. It includes owning and prioritizing the product roadmap, conducting customer discovery, defining requirements and KPIs, and coordinating delivery against customer value, commercial impact, technical feasibility, and engineering capacity. The role also establishes repeatable workflows that enable nontechnical product managers to use approved AI coding tools to build and test prototypes and data-collection tools. This includes creating templates and documentation aligned with POLITICO standards, defining prototype evaluation and engineering review processes, building representative prototypes, coaching colleagues, and developing reusable evaluations for prototypes and AI-enabled features. Additionally, the position scopes and prototypes methods for collecting public regulatory data from government sources in the United States, Europe, Japan, and other jurisdictions. The role works with research and engineering on data provenance, quality, parsing, change detection, monitoring, and maintainability so successful prototypes can become dependable product capabilities. Compensation is $125,000–$135,000 annual base salary; the final offer depends on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of product management experience delivering B2B software or data products, with evidence of strong product judgment and measurable customer or business results.
  • Hands-on ability to prototype with modern AI coding tools and working knowledge of code, APIs, databases, and software delivery sufficient to assess output and collaborate credibly with engineers.
  • Experience designing usable product workflows based on interviews, usability tests, feedback, and behavioral data; fluency in product metrics and prioritization.
  • Experience working with engineering on technical requirements, integrations, testing, and release processes.
  • Sound judgment about security, data access, and where human review is necessary.
  • Ability to teach technical practices to colleagues with different backgrounds and communicate decisions clearly to commercial, research, technology, and senior leadership teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Python or JavaScript, SQL, web data collection, cloud development environments, CI/CD, and API-based integrations.
  • Experience in information services, regulatory intelligence, or another B2B subscription business combining expert content, structured data, and software.
  • Knowledge of public regulatory sources or the needs of regulatory affairs, policy, legal, or scientific users.
  • Knowledge of U.S. capital markets, including public equities and the institutions that trade them.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the AgencyIQ roadmap, balancing customer value, commercial impact, technical feasibility, and engineering capacity.
  • Interview customers and prospects and analyze usage, feedback, market developments, and competitors to define product requirements, experiments, and KPIs.
  • Partner with research, commercial, design, and engineering teams to improve customer acquisition, engagement, expansion, and retention.
  • Design and roll out a repeatable workflow enabling nontechnical product managers to use approved AI coding tools, such as Codex or Claude Code, to build and test prototypes and data-collection tools.
  • Work with engineering and design to create reusable templates and documentation that follow company standards and connect to POLITICO systems through approved access paths.
  • Align templates and workflows with tooling, policies, and procedures established by engineering and operations teams.
  • Define how prototypes are evaluated with users, reviewed by engineers, and either prepared for release or retired.
  • Build representative prototypes, coach other product managers in the workflow, and improve the process based on user and engineering feedback.
  • Create reusable evaluations for prototypes and AI-enabled features using representative regulatory tasks, expected results, and clear quality thresholds; run evaluations as designs change and use results to guide review and release decisions.
  • Scope and prototype reliable approaches for collecting public data from government sources in the United States, Europe, Japan, and other global jurisdictions, using official APIs or structured feeds where available and compliant scraping where appropriate.
  • Partner with research and engineering on data provenance, data quality, parsing, change detection, monitoring, and maintainability.
  • Write clear specifications, make trade-offs visible, coordinate delivery to make effective use of limited engineering capacity, and measure whether shipped features improve customer outcomes.
