About The Position

TechInsights is seeking a Technical Product Manager to define and build its Photonics vertical. This role focuses on how optical interconnect architectures evolve under real-world constraints such as power density, bandwidth scaling, thermal limits, and serviceability. The product will enable customers to evaluate trade-offs between pluggable optics, Near-Packaged Optics (NPO), and Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), supported by teardown evidence, process analysis, and ecosystem intelligence. The product manager will define product architecture and channel strategy across four subscription layers (Process Analysis, Process Flow Analysis, Integration Components, Architecture Analysis) and coordinate execution across Analyst, Reverse Engineering, and Platform Engineering teams. This role is crucial for informing architectural and supplier decisions for hyperscalers, OEMs, and semiconductor companies in a rapidly changing technology landscape.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of product management or technical program management experience in technical intelligence products, B2B information services, or subscription research.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Understanding of optical interconnect systems, including silicon photonics, laser integration strategies, optical packaging, thermal management, and data center interconnect constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to define product strategy, build roadmaps, and translate customer needs into clear product specifications and statements of work for technical teams.
  • Ability to operate under high uncertainty with incomplete data, making defensible assumptions and clearly communicating confidence levels.
  • Experience designing AI-native products or agent-based systems, with the ability to translate domain data into structured, queryable formats that AI systems can leverage.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across commercial, research, engineering, and platform organizations.
  • Strong analytical capability with demonstrated use of AI tools for workflow automation, competitive intelligence synthesis, and product planning.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable requirements and customer-facing value propositions.
  • Self-starter with resilience, accountability, and a growth-oriented mindset; comfortable working independently with minimal guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of export control concepts, ECCN classification, and Entity List implications for optical technology transfer.
  • Familiarity with OIF standards and hyperscaler data center architecture decisions.
  • Experience in reverse engineering, teardown analysis, or technical intelligence environments.

Responsibilities

  • Define use cases, user personas, and customer decision workflows, and translate these into product roadmaps that incorporate customer feedback, competitive intelligence, Commercial Segment Leader input, and TechInsights strategic priorities.
  • Build a prioritized device and content roadmap spanning optical engines, pluggable modules, laser integration approaches (external vs integrated), optical-electrical interfaces, fiber coupling methods, and thermal solutions—based on customer decision needs and device availability.
  • Define comparative frameworks that allow customers to evaluate architectures (e.g., power per bit, bandwidth density, thermal load, serviceability, supply chain maturity), rather than delivering isolated analyses.
  • Monitor product performance through usage telemetry, customer engagement metrics, and renewal indicators to inform roadmap adjustments.
  • Develop quarterly analysis plans with Analyst and Reverse Engineering teams, producing clear statements of work that define deliverable scope, schedule, dependencies, and success criteria.
  • Translate customer questions into specific analysis specifications with clarity on production-readiness assessments, vendor maturity indicators, and competitive positioning, while coordinating device acquisition strategy balancing availability, access restrictions, priorities, and budget.
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering on database architecture, supplier directories, search functionality, and data structuring that supports both human consumption and AI-driven retrieval, and manage product enhancement initiatives based on customer feedback and technology evolution.
  • Monitor evolution of pluggable, NPO, and CPO architectures, including hyperscaler design choices, supplier roadmaps, OIF/IEEE standardization efforts, and shifts in the optical component ecosystem (lasers, modulators, packaging vendors).
  • Identify where industry narratives diverge from observable implementation reality, and translate these gaps into product opportunities.
  • Support Sales and Product Marketing with product expertise for customer demonstrations, renewals, value proposition development, competitive positioning, and go-to-market materials.
  • Develop case studies illustrating how Photonics intelligence supports architectural decisions and supplier qualification, and gather customer feedback to validate product value and identify coverage gaps.
  • Design structured data models and agentic interaction workflows that allow customers to query photonics architectures and trade-offs directly (e.g., compare integration approaches, thermal constraints, and supplier maturity).
  • Enable decision-oriented workflows by organizing reverse engineering outputs, process flows, and market intelligence into systems that support comparison, not just retrieval.
  • Apply AI tools selectively to accelerate internal workflows (e.g., synthesis of competitive positioning, aggregation of ecosystem intelligence), with a focus on improving speed and consistency rather than replacing domain judgment.
