About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical engineering and minimum 3 years relevant work experience, or Diploma in Electronics and minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience in design, testing, and commissioning (field work) in both electrical / power distribution, instrumentation, and controls fields.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in hands-on field work is required including working with Vendors, Technology Suppliers and Trades staff.
  • Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing data sets from operational power systems using real-time data acquisition platforms.
  • Must have used and knowledge (+3 years and more) of relevant CSA, IEEE, UL standards in design and testing.
  • Knowledge in control algorithm & process control programming, testing, and commissioning in any of the following control platforms (both hardware & software) : Rockwell Automation (e.g. ControlLogix), Siemens (e.g. SIMATIC ES7 Series), National Instruments (e.g cRIO with LabVIEW expertise).
  • Knowledge in power control and power electronics.
  • Knowledge in post processing, model simulation and data analysis experience using Matlab or Simulink.
  • Knowledge in design, testing and commissioning in the Microgrid sector (renewable energy resources and energy storage systems).
  • English language proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial equipment, PLC control systems, and safety systems is highly desirable.
  • Additional qualifications such as diplomas from related technical programs, and/or Millwright experience is an asset.
  • Professional engineer status.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and implement microgrid power systems, in collaboration with the project team.
  • Help develop test plans, execute them, and collect characterization and performance results using customized data acquisition and visualization tools.
  • Safely install, operate, and maintain microgrid components and systems, prepare and follow standard operating procedures, participate in related hazard prevention program studies, and investigate microgrid operational issues and optimization strategies.
  • Create test reports of raw and analyzed data for the project team, present results as needed.
