About The Position

The National Research Council (NRC) is seeking a Technical Officer, Downstream Production (DSP), to support the Production team at the Clinical Trial Material Facility. This role is crucial for the purification process of biotherapeutics and vaccines, supporting their clinical development for Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The successful candidate will work within a team, contributing to technology transfer and GMP manufacturing. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance for GMP productions, recording and compiling scientific data, and maintaining a controlled clean room and process equipment environment. This position is ideal for someone passionate about working in a GMP laboratory, adhering to standard operating procedures, and documenting activities in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering or related field. A collegial diploma combined with relevant and significant experience may be considered.
  • Significant experience in the preparation and execution of technical tasks in a GMP laboratory environment of pharmaceutical or biotechnology production preferably related to vaccines and / or biotherapies (mandatory).
  • Significant experience with industrial purification process.
  • Significant experience in aseptic techniques.
  • Significant experience in large scale solution preparation, tangential/dead-end filtration, large scale chromatography columns, virus inactivation/filtration, with automated production.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with single-use technology.
  • Experience working in biological containment level 2.
  • Experience with large scale purification of monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, viral vectors.

Responsibilities
