About The Position

Schaefer Plastics is seeking a Technical Material Handler to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment. The role ensures the correct materials, colors, and regrind are available and processed correctly. It combines hands-on material handling with technical troubleshooting and collaboration with production teams to optimize processes and support operational excellence. The position involves working 12-hour shifts and providing coverage for alternate shifts when needed.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of material handling experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to obtain a Schaefer forklift certification.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
• Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts and provide coverage for alternate shifts when needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with regrind materials.

Responsibilities

• Verify that the correct materials and silos are assigned to production equipment.
• Review production schedules and prepare for material and color changeovers.
• Maximize regrind utilization while maintaining product quality standards.
• Perform color and material changes efficiently to minimize scrap and downtime.
• Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain material loading systems.
• Clean and maintain hoppers, filters, and material handling equipment.
• Conduct material and quality audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Assist with changeovers, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the training and development of new team members.
